Off-Season Elk and Antelope Hunting Tasks

Any hunter knows that hunting season is always in session. It’s challenging to improve your hunting skills if you don’t take advantage of the opportunities to develop them during the off-season. If you’re trying to prepare for a great hunting season, check out a few of these beneficial tasks that you can do to improve your skills!

Re-Hang Hunting Treestands

If you have treestands around your property that needs to be removed or replaced, the off-season is the time to do it! If you decide to adjust your stands during the off-season, then you don’t have to worry as much about encountering and scaring away deer on your property. Although your stands will probably need to be re-adjusted closer to the start of the hunting season, you can still gain a better understanding of the best new areas to hang your stands.

Clear Out Your Shooting Lanes

When you aren’t using your shooting lanes, then you know that they can quickly become difficult to manage. The hunting off-season is a great time to get a head start on clearing out your shooting lanes. You can clear your path by trimming your branches, raking leaves, and removing anything else that interferes with your lane! Plus, you can take this opportunity to sit in your treestand and preview how your shooting lanes will look this fall.

Make Sure Your Hunting Equipment Works

At the start of your hunting season, the last thing you want is to realize that your equipment is damaged. Your equipment is the key to a successful hunt, and if something is broken or doesn’t work, it is devastating! Before the hunting season officially starts, check all of your gear to make sure that it’s in excellent condition.

To help you further prepare for fall hunting, conduct regular off-season equipment checks. This includes cleaning and shooting your equipment regularly.  After each examination, make sure that you are safely storing your equipment so that it stays clear from any damage.
